American Airlines to add more Jamaica Flights, St Mary & Kingston benefit
KINGSTON, Jamaica – American Airlines will markedly increase flight capacity on several Jamaica – US routes starting December 18 .
The airline is to increase to two, the daily flights between St Mary’s Ian Fleming International Airport and Miami, and increase to four, the daily flights between the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston and Miami.
State Minister in the Ministry of Tourism, Senator Delano Seiveright in making the announcement said, “this is great news for Jamaica.”
“More direct airlift means stronger travel and tourism connections, greater economic opportunities, and enhanced convenience for both residents and returning nationals,” he stated.
The improved winter airlift will supplement the existing summer operations, currently with 15 peak daily flights, raising their winter schedule to over 20 peak daily departures between Jamaica and seven US destinations, namely: Miami, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Dallas‑Fort Worth, and Chicago.
Jose Frieg, vice president of International and Inflight Dining Operations for American Airlines, stated: “As the largest US airline in Jamaica, we are thrilled to continue expanding our presence with even more service to Kingston and St Mary.… We have had significant growth in our Jamaican operations for this summer, and we look forward to even more flying in the winter, highlighting American’s almost 50‑year commitment to Jamaica’s travel industry and our local partners.”
With these additions, American Airlines will operate more service to Jamaica than any other carrier, growing capacity by approximately 20 per cent year-over-year across its network .
