PSG’s dominance meets Chelsea’s resilience in FIFA Club World Cup Final
Current UEFA Champions League winners PSG and reigning UEFA Europa Conference League winners Chelsea will meet in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup tournament this Sunday in New Jersey.
Event # 1 – Club World CUP – Chelsea vs PSG – 2:00PM
Chelsea was beaten by Brazilian side Flamengo in the group stage, but have improved as the tournament went on, even though not many would have backed them to go all the way to the final, but here they are just one game away from lifting the trophy. In fact, Chelsea is on the brink of history in the FIFA men’s competition as Sunday’s final offers a shot at Chelsea becoming the first English club to win the Club World Cup twice, having won it previously in 2021, with a victory over Palmeiras. However, History goes both ways as defeat would make them the first team to lose two Club World Cups finals, having been beaten by Corinthians in 2012.
PSG has been having a spectacular 2025 campaign, having won the quadruple so far, their domestic French league, the French Super Cup, the French League Cup, and the big one, the UEFA Champions League, back in May, finally ending the long wait for success in that tournament. And they are now on the brink of breaking new grounds if they can overcome Chelsea in Sunday’s final. A win over Chelsea would not only secure their first world title but also cap a recording-breaking season in which they have won every trophy they have contested (four so far). With that said, PSG will arrive at Sunday’s final high on confidence having dominated every single opponent they have faced so far at the Club World Cup. Indeed, having dismantled the Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami 4-0 and easing passing Bayern Munich, PSG embarrassed Real Madrid with a 4-0 hammering in their semi-final clash to reach their first Club World Cup final. Amazingly, if they prevail, they will become the first team to ever win five trophies in one single season.
Key Stats
• Chelsea – Chelsea have won 13 of their last 15 overall matches and could become the first English club to win the Club World Cup twice or lose in the final twice.
• PSG – PSG have won 10 of their last 11 competitive matches, keeping clean sheets in the last seven, and have only conceded one goal in the Club World cup.
• Both sides – PSG have won by 2+ margins in 9 of their last 10 matches and have won a club record 48 games in a single season with their win over Real Madrid in the semi-finals. Worryingly for Chelsea is that they are winless in their last four matches against PSG.
The betting tip: PSG win.
