Morgan’s Creek marks near 10-year existence with new store

As Morgan’s Creek prepares to officially celebrate its 10th anniversary next year, the company is actively taking steps to mark this milestone with the opening of a second store in Kingston.

The personal and skincare brand, established in April 2016, stepping boldly into its next phase of growth, its management said, has been greatly inspired by humble beginnings and bold aspirations for a prosperous future.

The public debut of the new store marks years of serious planning and investment—representing the company’s commitment to providing quality skincare products to the local market. Similar to the first location, the new storefront to be housed in the Corporate Area is set to give customers more options to access life-changing skincare products that new and returning clients have come to love and trust.

“I am excited to be opening our second store, after almost 10 years in business. The grand opening will take place at 110 Constant Spring Road. This location will provide greater convenience to our customers who are closer to that area. However, customers can also find us online, and we deliver and ship products as well,” founder and Managing Director Joni-Dale Morgan shared with the Jamaica Observer recently.

“This new store represents growth and gratitude. For us, it’s about meeting our customers where they are and continuing to make self-care accessible,” she added.

The company, which grew from a fairly small enterprise emerging out of personal skincare struggles, is today considered a body care speciality outlet which stocks a wide array of personal care and home fragrance products for both men and women. Its range of skincare and beauty essentials includes bar soaps, face washes, body butters, body mists, lip balms, candles, and room sprays — all available at 37A Sovereign Centre, the flagship store in Liguanea, St Andrew, which also serves as a manufacturing outlet for handmade products.

Morgan’s Creek, founded out of personal necessity, gained prominence after its owner, who was diagnosed with lupus, said her skin became extremely sensitive and intolerant to harsh ingredients commonly found in mainstream products. It was therefore this health challenge that gave rise to the business idea which has since then touched the lives of thousands.

“I started the company in April 2016 and so next year in April 2026 Morgan’s Creek will celebrate 10 years as we mark our first decade in business. The vision for the company at birth, which remains much the same, is to continue developing products containing fewer harsh ingredients, especially for extremely sensitive skin types,” Morgan said.

Citing human resource challenges as one of the main issues she has grappled with since start-up, the managing director, who now runs the business with the support of one full-time employee and seasonal staff as needed, said she remains hands-on in all aspects of the operation, taking on a myriad of tasks ranging from production and product development to customer service and administration.

“Hiring remains a challenge as over the years, it has been difficult to find enterprising people and with professionalism generally lacking in most instances, there tends to also be a general lack of regard by some employers in ensuring that they secure persons who are honest and hard-working. However, as someone who grew up in a family of entrepreneurs, I am a stickler for punctuality, integrity and hard work, because I understand what it takes to start and maintain a business. Unfortunately, it is hard to find people with a similar mindset to hire, notwithstanding, I continue to do the best I can even with the very few options I have at my disposal most of the time,” she explained.

Despite the uphill climb, the company, Morgan said, has been able to carve out a respected name in the local business and manufacturing landscape.

The brand has to date received numerous awards, including the JMEA’s new manufacturer of the year and new exporter of the year awards. It has also been named among Scotiabank’s Vision Achiever top performers and has copped the JBDC’s Business Entrepreneurial Mindset award.

“I appreciate all the accolades I have received; however, my biggest source of pride and joy comes from customer reviews of the products, as that is what matters most to me. It has been their experiences and testimonials that have helped me throughout the years to improve healthy lifestyles through proper skincare,” she stated.

With its second store now open, the company is not only celebrating a decade of progress but is also laying the groundwork for the future. Meanwhile, its managing director firmly keeps her eyes set on an ambitious goal of expanding the brand’s footprint across Jamaica—with hopes of bringing signature self-care experiences to even more customers.

“We want more people across Jamaica to experience the benefits of high-quality, thoughtfully made, local, self-care products, and this new store is just the beginning of the next chapter,” Morgan said.
