Golf View Hotel second iteration of Genesis to feature Chef Oji Jaja
MANCHESTER, Jamaica —The Golf View Hotel will present the second staging of its seven-course fine dining wine paired event, Genesis, featuring multi-award winning internationally featured Jamaican chef, Oji Jaja, on Thursday, July 31.
“The initial event in November 2023 was a resounding success. We got rave reviews and requests to do it again. So, we listened and took our time to plan the second staging so that we can top the first one,” said Golf View’s Managing Director, Peter Campbell.
The hotel is partnering with Harbour Wines and Spirits in this interactive event which will see the chef presenting each dish and telling the story of origins of the flavours and ingredients, following which the wine partner sommelier will explain the notes and fragrances in each wine selected for pairing with each dish.
“This makes the experience immersive, educational and delectable. We also expanded from the four courses that we had in our initial staging to seven,” said Campbell, while adding that the event will run from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

A formal event, the evening will start with an opulent cocktail hour by the hotel’s newly refurbished gazebo, followed by a gourmet dining experience in its auditorium.
“Jamaican cuisine is dynamic, versatile and worthy of the most elevated presentation. That’s what Genesis aims to do – to showcase the range and dynamism of the Jamaican gastronomy experience. I can’t wait to see what Chef Jaja has in store,” said Director of Golf View Hotel, Kemilee McLymont-Campbell, adding that the hotel was particularly happy to have Chef Jaja on board.

Chef Jaja is an accomplished and much sought after culinary artist with over 22 years of experience. He has served as resident chef for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes when they visited Jamaica as well as several heads of states of various countries including former US first lady, Michelle Obama. He has been nominated as Chef of the Year by the Jamaica Observer and received an award for Culinary Innovator of the Year among other accolades.
