Money Market dominates top-rated Overnight Allowance contest
IN a thrilling display of speed and skill Money Market, a talented five-year-old bay horse trained by Gary Subratie and ridden by Paul Francis, ran rivals off their hooves to claim victory in the top-rated, $1.25-million Overnight Allowance contest at Caymanas Park on Sunday.
Sent off as the clear favourite at odds of 6-5, Money Market justified its backing by leading from start to finish and crossing the line two lengths clear of stablemate Sensational Move (Omar Walker) and Get A Pepsi (Richard Henry) in the three-year-olds and upward event over five furlongs (1,000m).
Money Market broke well at the gates and set a blistering pace, dictating the tempo of the race with Norblar (Wesley Henry) just on his outside heels. As the field approached the final stretch Money Market found an extra gear and pulled clear, easing to the line in impressive style. The clock recorded a scintillating 59.2 seconds for the distance.
Meanwhile, champion jockey Raddesh Roman and former champion rider Reyan Lewis both had two winners on the nine-race card.
Roman won the opening event aboard Money Box for trainer Arnold Rambally Jr, and the fourth event aboard Emperorofthecats for trainer Oral Hayden. Lewis was successful aboard Here Comes Doc in the third race for trainer Gary Griffiths, and Alchemy of Souls in the fifth race for trainer Jason DaCosta.
Racing is scheduled to continue on Saturday.
