Morganne Kellier leads back-to-school initiative in Albion
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Community spirit and youth empowerment will take centre stage on Saturday, August 30, 2025, as Morganne Kellier & Friends return to host the Albion Annual Back-to-School Treat at Albion Football Field in Montego Bay, St James from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Following last year’s successful inaugural event, which saw over 100 students receiving school supplies, including bags, stationery, tablets, and cash prizes, the initiative is back with greater ambition and wider reach.
“I’ve always had an affinity for community service and giving back,” said Morganne Kellier, attorney-at-law and event organiser. “Now that I am in a steady position in life where I can give back in my own way, it only made sense to do a treat of my own in the community. I reached out to friends with thriving businesses to support and like magic, we were able to make it happen.”
This year’s event aims to double last year’s impact, with a continued focus on both educational support and uplifting experiences for the children. Attendees can look forward to giveaways of school supplies, fun activities and community bonding.
“My plans this year are simple: to reach more students,” Kellier added. “We want the children to not only walk away with resources but also to have a fun day, feel seen and know that there are people genuinely invested in their growth and development.”
A proud daughter of Montego Bay, Morganne Kellier is more than a legal professional—she’s a tireless advocate for youth development. A first-class honours graduate of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, she rose to public recognition in 2015 as junior Mayor of Montego Bay, where she launched the first St James Youth Awards. She is the recipient of several national honours, including the Sagicor Community Hero Award (2020) and the Governor General Achievement Award (2022). A former Miss St James Festival Queen and national finalist, she is also the founder of MK Tutoring Services, and is deeply committed to mentorship, volunteerism and the performing arts.
The organisers are also looking ahead to the future, with the goal of building the treat into a long-term, community-anchored tradition.
“Overall, I want this to be an annual event,” said Kellier. “With bigger corporate sponsors on board, we hope to eventually expand our reach into surrounding communities as well.”
The 2025 treat is proudly sponsored by Millennial Imprint & Innovations Limited, The Beauty Hive, Aura Ventures, 87Ships, Marina Palms, and Salas Cuts.
