Jamaica making historic berth in Nations League 7-a-side football
Jamaica will make history as it competes for the first time ever in the prestigious Nations League 7-a-side football competition.
The national squad is set to depart on July 16 for Valledupar, Colombia, where the tournament will take place from July 18 to 20, 2025.
Jamaica face off against top teams from across the Americas, including Brazil, Panama, Mexico, USA, Colombia, and Venezuela.
The Jamaicans, who will play the opening match of the tournament against the USA on July 18 at 4:30 pm, comprise a talented lineup of Zane Pinnock (Portmore United), Dejuan Nevers, Damion English, Jacob Matalon, Ackeem Bernard (Waterhouse), Daniel Ho Tai, Ryan Reid, Carlos Cooper, Yared McDonald, and team captain Alexander Bicknell (Waterhouse).
The team is under the guidance of head coach O’Neal Johnson, current manager at Harbour View FC. Accompanying the delegation is Juan Mosquera, president of Jamaica Football Sevens.
“We are proud to represent Jamaica on this historic occasion and look forward to showcasing our talent and determination on the international stage,” said Coach Johnson.
