Man killed, firearm seized in Bull Bay police operation
ST ANDREW, Jamaica — A man was shot dead and a high-powered rifle was seized during a police operation in Taylor Land, Bull Bay, St Andrew, on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Adrian Wright, otherwise called “Odane”, a higgler from the community.
Reports are that the police went to the community with a warrant in search of Kimon Foreman, otherwise called “Kimmy”, who is wanted for murder and assault at common law.
While approaching a dwelling at the rear of the premises, the police said the wanted man exited the building with what appeared to be a rifle and ran to the left of the dwelling with his rifle held down.
It is alleged that Wright then appeared with a rifle in his hand. Upon seeing the police, he reportedly raised the firearm in their direction and the police opened fire.
Noting that Wright fell into a nearby house, the police said they proceeded in his direction, and the now-deceased allegedly pointed the firearm in their direction again. The police fired a second time.
After the shooting subsided, the police said they recovered the firearm, which had fallen from Wright and it was found to be a Radical Firearm (RF-15) with a magazine containing 23 5.56mm rounds.
Wright was transported to the Kingston Public Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (Indecom) is probing the incident.
