Shake it to the Max (Fly) remix climbs Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart

The global hit Shake it to the Max (Fly) remix by MOLIY, Silent Addy, Skillibeng and Shenseea storms its way from #8 to #3 on the latest Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart.

But can the dance floor groove take over the #1 spot? If it does, it would be the first time that any Jamaican occupies the #1 spot on that chart.

The current #1 song is Mutt by Leon Thomas, which spends its sixth week on top, while Luther, a former #1 by Kendrick Lamar and SZA, rebounds into the #2 spot.

So, who are the other Jamaicans who have done well on the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart?

Shabba Ranks has two entries with Family Affair, featuring Patra and Terri & Monica, being his highest-charting title, topping out at #19 in February 1994.

Diana King’s Shy Guy got as far as #17 in June 1995, while Ini Kamoze’s Here Comes the Hotstepper peaked at #3 in November 1995.

The Skip Marley and H.E.R. collaboration Slow Down stalled at #23 in June 2020, while Shaggy has four entries, with Boombastic reaching as high as #2 in August 1995.

And still on Shake it to the Max (Fly) remix, the song continues to make moves on several overseas charts. It’s latest moves include in Dominica Republic (#1), Costa Rica and Croatia (#14), Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Panama (#6), Central America and Honduras (#3), and Guatemala and Suriname (#2).

Over on the Billboard Hot 100, the song backtracks from #44 to #46 in its 8th week, while on Global 200 and Global 200 Excluding US it slips from #11 to #15 on both charts. It dips from #10 to #11 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart, while falling two places to #12 on R&B/Hip Hop Streaming Songs.

On Hot R&B/Hip Hop Airplay, the song inches up to #8, while slipping from #4 to #7 on R&B/Hip Hop Digital Song Sales and improving from #8 to #4 on Rhythmic Airplay Top 40.

Damian Marley’s Grammy-winning, gold-selling Welcome to Jamrock re-enters the Billboard Reggae Albums chart at #10. In the meantime, his father, the late reggae king Bob Marley and the Wailers hang on to the #1 spot for a 287th week with Legend.

Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy is #2, Sean Paul’s The Trinity jumps back onto the chart at #3, World on Fire by Stick Figure is #4, while Greatest Hits by UB40 rebounds to #5.

Wisdom by Stick Figure slips to #6, Dutty Rock by Sean Paul inches up to #7, Set in Stone by Stick Figure is down to #8, and
Exodus by Bob Marley and the Wailers steps up to #9.

Songs by Zion by Carlene Davis spends a third week at the top of the New York Reggae chart; however, another veteran singer, JC Lodge, storms into the #11 spot with I’m in Love Again.

True Lies by Naomi Cowan moves from #20 to #17, while Spread Love by Singer Irie at #28, and Jamaica by Kabaka Pyramid at #29 are the new entries this week.

Former Digicel Rising Stars winner Shuga leads the South Florida Reggae chart for a second week with What If (Side Man), while
Smile by Rod Spence bolts into the #10 spot.

Khago’s current hit 2 Times moves up from #20 to #18, while A Woman’s Touch by Richie Stephens (#23), Rest Your Love on Me by Joanna Marie (#24), and Cool Me Down by Courtney John (#25) are this week’s new entries.

Meanwhile, over on the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart, Changes by Zantelly remains at #1.
