The French Embassy in Kingston was abuzz on Saturday, July 12, for a reception marking the 236th anniversary of Bastille Day, the national day of France. French Ambassador to Jamaica Olivier Guyonvarch and Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson Smith delivered keynote addresses, celebrating France’s foundational ideals and highlighting the enduring friendship between France and Jamaica. The event additionally provided an opportune moment to reflect on Ambassador Guyonvarch’s accomplishments as his tenure in Jamaica concludes. Guests savoured delicious pours offered from Select Brands, Caribbean Producers of Jamaica (CPJ), Harbour Wines and Spirits, J Wray & Nephew, as well as beer from Red Stripe.
