Christian author recalls his wild days in ‘One Night Of Sin’
‘Let he who is without sin cast the first stone’ (John 8:7) is a verse from the Bible that defines forgiveness and redemption. Byron Malcolm identifies with the oft-used New Testament utterance by Jesus Christ, who admonished the Pharisees for condemning a woman accused of adultery.
Malcolm, a Christian, lived a wild life before turning to God for solace. Based in Boca Raton, Florida, he recalls a misguided youth in One Night Of Sin, his first book which was released in June by Trilogy Christian Publishing.
The ordained minister of religion told Observer Online that the book is partially aimed at young males who had a roving eye even after becoming Christians.
“I knew that my upbringing and my philandering days as a young Christian were worth the effort to tell all that transpired, with the assurance that no sensuous affairs or names of the girls I’ve loved before will be revealed,” he said. “I want to convey a simple principle of truth in the inner parts — our soul and thought process — not all, but to tell the truth, to help others overcome their struggles with multiple relationships simultaneously.”
Married since 1987, Malcolm admits, “my actions were not in line with my Christian beliefs at the time”, but decided to tell his amorous story in a book. When he sent the draft to Trilogy Christian Publishing, the company’s principals expressed interest in distributing and marketing it.
Trilogy Christian Publishing is an affiliate of Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), the most-watched religious channel in the United States. The former’s products are consistently promoted on TBN.
The Montego Bay-born Malcolm is aware of those lofty statistics.
“TBN reaches over a billion people worldwide, employing a rigorous selection process to accept material for publication and promotion on their platform. One Night Of Sin caught their attention because of the style of writing,” he said.
A keyboardist, Byron Malcolm founded the Zenith band in his hometown over 40 years ago. It also included drummer Paul Kastick and bassist Benjy Myaz.
