British dancehall artiste Tuggawar and Canadian singer, actress and model Aneesa Badshaw have collaborated to release a cover of the reggae/dancehall classic, Murder She Wrote.

Recorded in 1992 and re-released in 1993 via Mango/Island Records, the song Murder She Wrote by Chaka Demus and Pliers was a monster hit, charting on the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

The song got as far as #27 on the UK Singles chart, and last November, it was certified platinum there for sales and streaming equivalent exceeding 600,000 units.

The cover version was co-produced by Sholz and Stu Brooks. Brooks co-engineered the track with Jamaican Rorey Baker. Legendary drummer Sly Dunbar played on the track.

“Recording this song was such a great vibe. Tuggawar is a fun and talented artiste, so the process of doing the collaboration was super easy and exciting. I have high hopes for this track,” Aneesa Badshaw shared with Observer Online.

She states that she is always open to collaborating with other artistes because she believes that it is a good move for the music industry and is more often than not, beneficial to all parties.

“It’s always good to collaborate because it helps to push the culture as well as musical boundaries,” said Badshaw, who last year teamed up with dancehall artiste Pamputtae for the track Gymnastic. “I believe merging sounds is very good for the culture and it makes music more appealing globally. As such, I am always open to collaborating once energies align.”
