Spain take on Switzerland, France clash with Germany in quarter-finals thriller

The quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 kicks off this Friday as hosts Switzerland Women and favourites Spain Women go head to head, then on Saturday France Women and Germany Women square off in a mega clash.

Event # 1 – Women Euro 2025 – Spain W vs Switzerland W – 2:00 PM

Hosts Switzerland face the ultimate test in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 Championship, when they take on World Champions and tournament favourites Spain today in an eagerly anticipated clash. Indeed, the Swiss women did very well to qualify from their group as runners-up behind winners Norway, and will be hoping that home advantage will help them create the shock of the tournament by beating the favourites Spain. With that said, beating the red-hot Spain will be a difficult task for the Swiss team that have won just two of their last 12 matches in all competitions, of which they have lost seven, the type of form which makes them huge underdogs to create an upset.

Meanwhile, Spain Women head into today’s quarter-finals as reigning World Champions and the Nation League winners of 2025 and are odds-on favourites to add the Euro 2025 title to their trophy cabinet. Spain qualified for the knockout stage having gone unbeaten by winning their three matches played, scoring at least three more goals than any other teams in the tournament, after brushing aside Portugal 6-1, Belgium 6-2, and Italy 3-1, respectively. Indeed, Spain enter this quarter-final in sparkling form, having won their last eight matches on the trot, scoring 35 goals during this run at an average of just short of 4.5 goals per match. Surprisingly, despite establishing themselves as a dominant force in World football, at the moment, the Spaniards have only once made it beyond the quarter-finals at the Euros, which came back in 1997, and have been eliminated at this stage in each of the last three European Championships.

Key Stats

• Spain W– Spain Women have won eight of their last nine matches, drawn one and have scored 35 goals during this run.

• Switzerland W – Switzerland Women are unbeaten in three of their last four matches. However, Switzerland were beaten 5-1 when both teams met in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup round of 16.

• Both sides – Spain Women have won their last four head to head meetings with Switzerland by an aggregate 19-2.

The betting Tip. Spain W win.

Event # 2 Women Euro 2025 – France W vs Germany W – 2:00 PM

France Women and Germany Women will see two giants collide in a blockbuster UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 quarter-finals on Saturday. Indeed, this high-stakes clash pits two of the tournament’s elite teams against each other, with both nations being viewed as having realistic chances of lifting the trophy. With that said, France arrive in exceptional form, having topped a tough group with three wins from their three group games, scoring 11 goals during this run, including hammering Netherlands 5-2 in their most recent game, and have looked particular dominant against reigning champions England, who they defeated 2-1.

Germany Women, on the other hand, finished second in their group after they were ambushed 4-1 by Sweden in their final group game. Despite Germany’s proud European history, their recent form raises concerns for their fans, and with a heavy defeat ahead of this game after Sweden exposed their defensive vulnerabilities, fans are fearing that France are more than capable of exploiting those shortcomings. With that said, Germany Women are eight-times Euro champions but have failed to win the title in the past two tournament. In the last Euro, they reached the finals but lost to England.

Key Stats

•France W– France Women have won their last five overall matches and are aiming to win four straight Euro finals matches for the first time since 2022.

•Germany W – Germany Women have won four of their last five overall matches and are aiming to reach a record extending 11th Women’s Euro semi-final.

• Both sides – Germany Women have won all three previous Women’s Euro tournament matches against France. Most recently, 2-1 in the semi-final in 2022.

The betting Tip. France W win.
