RACE DAY REVIEW — SUNDAY, JULY 13, 2025

Following victory in his last event, Money Box (5-1) was parterned again by champion Raddesh Roman for trainer Arnold Rambally Jr. Racing from off the pace, he was three lengths better than his nearest rival at the end of the five-and-a-half furlong sprint of race one. Roman added another in race four with consistent Emperorofthecats (4-5), saddled by owner/trainer Oral Hayden, winning the five-furlong straight event by eight lengths.

Riley J(5-2), declared by second-generation trainer Lorne Kirlew, came home by three and a half lengths ahead of her closest pursuer in the afternoon’s second event of the nine on the Sunday programme. Ridden by former champion Wesley Henry, the Soul Warrior-bred filly won well enough to suggest that she will continue to pay for her existence.

Reyan Lewis, the 2023 champion, opened a riding double by inducing a successful late run from Gary Griffiths’ Here Comes Doc (3-1) in the six-furlong third event. From well behind the early fractions, the five-year-old bay horse overtook battling front-running mares,
Kissmet (8-1) and Arias Reign (7-2), close to home to score by just under one length.

Following the running of the six-furlong race five, featured as the John Clifton Wright Memorial, Lewis returned to the winners’ enclosure aboard Jason DaCosta’s Alchemy Of Souls (7-5) as the maiden three-year-old grey colt won by over eight lengths to close the rider’s double. Whilst in race six, US-bred four-year-old bay filly Siempre Valiente (6-5) showed promise on her belated debut. Ridden by veteran Clive Lynch for trainer Omar Williams, the well-conformed US importee battled gamely to score by a neck.

Race seven, a Maiden Condition restricted to four-year-olds and older, run at seven furlongs, had a very interesting outcome. In front at the line by just over one length, four-year-old Bobbytwobad (4-5) beat Lord Espo (18/1), ridden by Rayon Blake for only his second mount of the season. Following a Steward Inquiry, Bobbytwobad was disqualified and placed fifth for causing severe interference to one of his rivals four furlongs out. This gave owner/trainer Donovan Clarke his third success this season and also resulted in a particular piece of good fortune for Blake.

In race eight, a five-furlong Straight Condition event restricted to three-year-old maidens, Bubbling Warrior (2-5), schooled by Christopher Pearson, justified her very short odds by three and a half lengths from in front with claiming rider Richie Shakes astride. In contrast to the programme of 24 hours earlier, seven 2024 graduates of Jamaica Racing Commission Riding School won eight of the 10 races, but today Shakes was alone in the improvement of the statistics.

The nightcap, an Overnight Allowance event, contested over the five furlongs round trip, ended with consistent Money Market (6-5) from the Gary Subratie outfit, outsprinting stable companion Sensational Soul (5-1) by two lengths. Popular and well-recognised hard-working veteran Paul “Country” Francis executed the riding honours with his customary and well-chronicled front-running tactics.

The Training Feat Award is presented to Omar Williams for the schooling and preparation of Siempre Valiente (USA), who did everything right at the first time of asking and delivered the Best Winning Gallop. The experience and horsemanship of veteran Clive Lynch assisted in no measure and his skill set is recognised with the Jockeyship Award.

Money Market (Paul Francis) easily wins the night pan.Garfield Robinson
