Cop accidentally shoots herself in New Kingston
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A policewoman accidentally shot herself in a parking lot on St Lucia Avenue in New Kingston on Friday.
The woman, a corporal from the St Catherine North Division, was on enquiries with two other cops when the incident occurred, Observer Online understands.
Reports are that around 10:45 am, the policewoman left her service firearm in the police vehicle before exiting and conducting business nearby.
Upon her return, she retrieved the weapon and sent the slide forward, after which a loud explosion was heard. It was then discovered that the corporal was shot in her right leg above the knee.
Her colleagues transported her to the Kingston Public Hospital, where she underwent treatment.
