Hurricane centre monitoring tropical wave with potential to develop
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical wave currently moving across the Atlantic that could develop into the season’s next tropical depression or storm.
Located about 1,000 miles east-southeast of the Lesser Antilles, the system is currently producing disorganised showers and thunderstorms as it moves west-northwestward at around 10 miles per hour.
Forecasters say environmental conditions appear only marginally conducive for development over the next day or so. However, by midweek, those conditions are expected to become unfavourable for further development.
It said the chance of formation remains low, with a 10 per cent probability over both the next 48 hours and the next seven days.
