No weapons allowed on book ship — police
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police are advising citizens who will be visiting the book ship docked at the Cement Coral Pier in Kingston from Saturday, July 19 to Tuesday, August 19 that they must adhere to strict security measures while at the location.
According to the police, no firearms, knives, ice picks, machetes, firecrackers, aerosol sprays, large igloos, glass bottles, lighters, frozen water or drinks, drugs, alcohol, glass bottles, umbrellas with pointed tips, or any item that can be used as a weapon will be allowed on the ship.
Additionally, licensed firearm holders are advised to make alternative arrangements for the safekeeping of their firearms, as no provisions will be made at the venue. They are also being warned not to leave firearms in their vehicles, as this is a dangerous practice.
Citizens are further advised that all individuals entering the ship will be subjected to a search. No smoking will be allowed inside the ship, and those found in breach may be asked to leave, the police said.
