Young gospel stars to join CeCe Winans on Aug 1 show
The stage is set for an unforgettable night of worship as Jamaica prepares to welcome gospel legend CeCe Winans for the highly anticipated More Than This concert on Emancipation Day, August 1.
Adding to the excitement, three of Jamaica’s rising gospel voices — Johnmark Wiggan, Prince Saj, and Jess Royes — will bring fresh energy to the East Lawn of King’s House.
Johnmark Wiggan, known for soul-stirring hits like Validation and Confidence, has earned a reputation for his raw authenticity and powerful delivery.
Speaking on the opportunity to share this platform, Wiggan said: “Platforms like this are vital for the gospel to reach further. It is healthy for Jamaican ministers and musicians to remain globally prepared as the music and ministry expand their impact.”
Joining him is Prince Saj (born Saja Smith), who first gained national attention on Magnum Top Performer in 2021. His seamless blend of dancehall rhythms with faith-filled lyrics has earned him a loyal following both locally and abroad.
“I pray that the sound God has given me will reach hearts and minds, allowing people to hear His word through music,” Saj shared. “As II Chronicles 7:14 reminds us, when we humble ourselves and seek His face, He will heal our land. Moments like these concerts draw people closer to God, inspiring lives that truly please Jesus Christ.”
Making her major stage début at the concert’s pre-show is Jess Royes, a Kingston-born singer-songwriter whose refreshing approach to gospel music represents the next wave of ministry-driven creatives.
“I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to share my gift on a platform that is both Christ-centred and charity-oriented. The bonus is that I love CeCe Winans, and to have my first major performance on a stage she will also grace is an honour,” said Royes.
In the lead-up to the event, hundreds of gospel fans across Jamaica participated in the ‘Sing Like CeCe Challenge’ showcasing their vocal prowess with renditions of CeCe Winans’ songs. After a week of public voting, Geovanni Baker emerged as the winner, earning a VVIP ticket, an interview on Love 101 FM, and a live pre-show performance. Deandra Brown claimed second place, while Trevene Little secured third.
With a line-up that blends legendary artistry and emerging voices, the More Than This concert promises to be a night of powerful worship and community impact.
Proceeds will support five charities, including the Governor General’s Programme for Excellence and the Bustamante Hospital for Children.
