West Indies fall to Australia in first T20
The West Indies lost their first T20 international against Australia at Sabina Park on Sunday night, going down by 3 wickets.
Set to 190 to win, the Aussies got to their target with seven balls to spare.
Cameron Green, 51, and debutant Mitchell Owen, 50, did the job for the visitors who helped their recovery from 78 for 4.
Alzarri Joseph, Jason Holder and Gudakesh Motie took two wickets each.
Earlier, the Caribbean side, sent to bat, posted 189 for 8 off their 20 overs.
Roston Chase led the way with 60 from 32 balls which included 9 fours and 2 sixes. Chase and captain Shai Hope, who hit 55 off 39 deliveries, put on a 91 run partnership.
Shimron Hetmeyer, 38, and Jamaican Brandon King, 18, were the only other batsmen to make decent contributions to the Windies total.
Jamaican superstar Andre Russell, in his penultimate international appearance, fell for 8. Another Jamaican, Rovman Powell only managed 1.
Ben Dwarshius led the Aussie bowlers with 4 for 36.
The second T20 at Sabina Park takes place on Tuesday at 7 PM.
