15-y-o suspected of committing suicide in Manchester
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Police in Manchester are seeking to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of a schoolboy after he reportedly ingested several pills on Monday.
His death has so far been classified as a suspected case of suicide.
Police named him as Keshane Stewart, 15, a student of Knox College and resident of Fine Grass district in Manchester.
A police report said about 2:45 pm, Stewart was at home with his mother. She told the police that her son was beside her when she was notified by a secretary at his school via a phone call that her son would be repeating grade nine. The mother told the police that the phone call was on speaker.
Police said the teenager went into a bedroom and was later heard coughing. His mother reportedly found him on the ground with pills beside him.
He was rushed to the Percy Junor Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Police are awaiting an autopsy report to determine the cause of death.
