Frazsiers Whip and Arnett close regular season with big wins
DEFENDING champions Frazsiers Whip and Arnett Gardens scored big wins as the regular season of the Jamaica Women’s Premier League came to an end on Saturday and both now prepare for the start of the semi-finals.
Destiny Powell scored four goals as Frazsiers Whip blanked Mile Gully 11-0 at Royale Lakes, while Shikira Douglas bagged six goals to lead Arnett Gardens to a 14-1 win over Real MoBay at Jarrett Park.
With second-placed Cavalier completing their schedule the previous week the other semi-finalists, Los Perfectos, were held to a 1-1 draw by Springers United at Irwin High.
At Royale Lakes, Frazsiers Whip led 8-0 at half-time — with Powell scoring in the 20th, 26th, and 36th minutes — while Davia Richards extended her league-leading tally to 40 goals when she scored a brace in the 41st and 45th minutes.
Powell added a fourth goal in the 62nd minute while there were also goals for Ricquanna Richards, Natoya Atkinson, Nevillegail Able, Keandra Leslie and Shaneil Buckley.
Douglas scored a hat-trick in both halves at Jarrett Park, with goals in the 14th,18th, 34th, 54th, 63rd and 68th minutes. Shaunalee Johnson got a late brace, scoring in the 79th and 80th minutes.
Isabelle Redwood, Briana Crosby, Tuanashae Hamilton, Sade Berry, Suen Gregory, and Shanice Stewart also scored in the one-sided game while Dale-Ann Daley scored Real Mobay’s lone goal.
Tashel Davis scored a hat trick in 13 minutes in the first half to lead WiFi United to a 3-0 win over UWI, scoring in the 30th, 40th and 43rd minutes.
Proven Girls edged Federal United 3-2 in their game played at Spanish Town Prison Oval, while Springers United and Los Perfectos shared the points with a 1-1 draw.
