Samantha Fletcher scores another win at Century Mile
Jamaican jockey Samantha Fletcher added another win to resume with a thrilling victory at Century Mile in Canada on July 19, 2025.
Riding the talented, Ken Bell-trained horse Puddingontheritz, Fletcher expertly navigated the competition to secure a convincing win in the day’s sixth event.
Puddingontheritz, known for its speed, lived up to expectations as it was sent off from the gate with Fletcher’s skilled guidance. The horse effortlessly held a short lead in the final turn before drawing clear in the stretch, ultimately crossing the finishing line a commanding 8¼ lengths ahead of its nearest rivals.
Fletcher’s win was particularly notable, given that she was filling in for fellow Jamaican jockey Richard Lunan.
In a competitive field Fletcher outmanoeuvred fellow Jamaican jockeys Ruja Lahoe, who finished second on Tigerito, and Dane Nelson who came in third on Take Charge Curly.
