Funcaandun the one to beat in She’s A Maneater Trophy
The $1.75-million staging of the She’s A Maneater Trophy takes centre stage at Caymanas Park tomorrow. The three-year-old and upward Open Allowance contest has attracted a field of six runners going the distance of one mile (1,600m).
Below, the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide analyses the runners and their chances of winning.
1. IS THAT A FACT (USA): (5 b h by Palace Malice – Vaild Code) – This talented horse may struggle to win here despite the figure-8 on. While Is That A Fact has shown flashes of brilliance, consistency has been an issue. With tougher competition in this race, it’s uncertain whether the horse can step up to the challenge.
2. DESERT OF MALIBU (USA): (6 ch m by Malibu Moon – Lady Digger) – Fresh from a 7-length win on July 5,
Desert of Malibu looks like a top contender, with impressive morning works and a strong chance of winning. The horse’s recent form suggests she’s in good shape, and her pedigree indicates she can handle the mile distance. If she can replicate her winning performance, she’ll surely be a dangerous contender.
3. MAMMA MIA: (5 ch m by Soul Warrior – Lady Geeta) – This horse may find the competition too stiff, making a win unlikely. While Mamma Mia has shown potential, her recent performances haven’t been convincing enough to make her a top contender in this field.
4. CALIFORNIA CROWN: (4 ch c by Hedge Fund – Dream Big) – No chance of winning here. California Crown doesn’t seem to have the necessary speed or stamina to compete with the top contenders in this race.
5. FUNCAANDUN (USA): (4 b c by Klimt – Fiftyshadesoffun) – The current Horse of the Year is a strong contender, having won the Mark My Word Trophy on June 15. The mile distance suits him, making a win highly achievable. Funcaandun’s impressive form and pedigree make him a top contender, and if he can replicate his winning performance, he could be the one to beat.
6. TIZ TOK (USA): (5 b h by Tiznow – Weekend Prospect) – With a recent win in the Eros Trophy and good morning works, Tiz Tok is expected to put up a good fight. Tiz Tok’s speed and agility make him a threat, especially if he can get a good position early in the race.
