JN Bank launches JN Pay Wallet
JN Bank has introduced a new digital payment platform, the JN Pay Wallet, designed to expand financial inclusion and offer Jamaicans an easier way to complete everyday transactions.
The wallet, developed by JN Bank’s sister company MC Systems, allows users to send and receive funds, pay utility bills, purchase mobile airtime, and make deposits or withdrawals through JN Bank Smart ATMs. It supports both users with traditional bank accounts and those without, requiring only a Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN), phone number, and email address for registration.
Ricardo Dystant, head of branches and digital channels at JN Bank, said the wallet aims to eliminate barriers to financial services by providing instant, round-the-clock transactions at no cost to customers. “Unlike traditional transfer systems that have cut-off times and are unavailable on weekends, this platform offers 24/7 access,” Dystant said.
The wallet integrates Jamaica’s central bank digital currency (CBDC), known as Jam-Dex, and includes a feature that enables third-party cash withdrawals via SMS transfer codes. This allows recipients to collect cash from JN Bank Smart ATMs without needing a bank account or debit card.
The app is available on the App Store and Google Play store, with tiered transaction limits. Basic users have a $50,000 limit while those completing additional KYC (know your customer) verification can access higher limits of up to $100,000 per day.
The JN Pay Wallet has been piloted internally and through a limited roll-out at tax offices in May 2025, with plans to support cashless payments at major events. Jair Minott, manager for digital transformation and special projects at JN Bank, highlighted the wallet’s potential to support small businesses by reducing reliance on cash transactions.
The move aligns with broader efforts in Jamaica to enhance digital financial services and promote economic participation among unbanked populations.
