Senior Citizens Domino Tournament hailed great success
NATIONAL Association of Domino Bodies President Humbert Davis says the Senior Citizens Domino Tournament, held at the Anglican Church Hall in Hanover on Tuesday, was a resounding success.
“Dominoes is more than just a game; it’s a way to keep our minds sharp, our memories active, and our social connections strong. Seeing our seniors come together, compete, and enjoy each other’s company is truly heart-warming,” Davis says.
The tournament’s first phase saw Green Vindel and Earl Davis emerge as winners, their skills and strategy on full display as they placed their dominoes and outmanoeuvred their opponents. Vindel and Davis were presented with the championship trophy named in honour of Florette Blackwood.
“I’m thrilled to see our seniors participating in this tournament” Davis says. “It’s a testament to their competitive spirit, their love for the game, and their commitment to staying active and engaged in their communities.”
The tournament will continue on August 5 at the Bustamante High School in Lionel Town, Clarendon.
As the competition heats up Davis is optimistic about the impact it will have on the seniors involved.
“Dominoes is a game that brings people together, fosters camaraderie, and promotes mental stimulation,” he says. “We’re proud to be able to provide a platform for our seniors to come together, socialise, and enjoy each other’s company while competing in a fun and challenging environment.
“Dominoes is a game that’s not just about winning or losing — it’s about the journey, the friendships, and the memories we create along the way.”
