Time to go!
I’m of the opinion that the Cricket West Indies (CWI) board should ask for the resignation of Dr Kishore Shallow, president of CWI, and Head Coach Daren Sammy effective immediately. If they refuse, they should be let go.
Dr Shallow is the one who appointed Daren Sammy and gave him all that responsibility by promoting him to be all-format coach, which, I believe, got to his head. The problem with Sammy is he wants to be Mr Everything. He wants to be coach, captain, and selector all at once, that is why West Indies cricket is in crisis. The woeful batting display put on by them in the third Test against Australia at Sabina Park speaks volumes. It was most disgraceful, the players seem to have no shame or pride.
An investigation should be launched and match fees withheld. How can a Test team make a grand total of 27 runs at home, in front of their supporters? No excuses, the wicket was good to bat on, and conditions overall were quite good.
How could West Indies batsmen have so much trouble playing to fast bowling when we currently have some of the best pace bowlers in the world?
I would also like to recommend that the International Cricket Council ban West Indies from Test cricket until they get their act together.
For this guy, Dr Shallow, to claim that the reason Sammy was harshly criticised is because he is from St Lucia was downright disingenuous to say the least. Someone should remind him that his team got blown away for a measly 27 runs, with seven batsmen failing to score. With that kind of arrogance, we don’t need his services. Because, as I see it, both he and Sammy are detrimental to West Indies cricket.
Over the years a lot of money has been invested in West Indies cricket by the respective governments and the fans; so we all have a stake in this. We can’t allow these two gentlemen to destroy it. I believe they think they’re God’s gift to the region’s cricket, but quite the opposite is true. The truth is the game is much bigger than both of them. So the sooner they go, the better for the team.
Dr Shallow, you can’t defend the indefensible, you’ve got to go, and go now!
The National Basketball Association (NBA) just completed its season and the New York Head Coach Tom Thibodeau, who led the team to back-to-back wins, lost to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals. For this, he was fired.
In contrast, your team, Dr Shallow and Coach Sammy, hasn’t won anything. Retention of your jobs is connected to your team’s performance. And your teams performance has been dismal, at best; therefore, there can be no job security for either of you.
