Sprinter Goldson to lead Jamaican charge in Luxembourg
FRESH from his lifetime best and meet record in the men’s 200m at the Raiffeisen Austrian Open on Wednesday, Jamaica’s Kadrian Goldson will turn his attention to the men’s 100m at the Schifflange Meeting in Schifflange, Luxembourg. The event is a World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger meet.
He is one of four Jamaican men down to compete in the event.
Goldson, who ran 20.32 in the 200m on Wednesday, will hope to better his season’s best 10.05 seconds as he lines up against former national champion Rohan Watson, Sachin Dennis and Michael Campbell. The Ivory Coast’s Arthur Cisse and Jose Gonzales of the Dominican Republic will add depth to the field.
Goldson was a member of the Jamaican 4x100m quartet that ran 37.80 seconds at the London Diamond League which put the country’s men’s relay team in a great position to qualify for the World Athletics Championships.
Kemba Nelson, Briana Williams and Krystal Sloley are to line up in the women’s 100m in which Liranyi Alonso of the Dominican Republic will also be hoping to score a win.
Adelle Tracey, who is chasing the World Championships 800m qualifying time of 1:59.00, is to make another attempt when she lines up with many-time national champion Natoya Goule-Toppin. Charlotte Pizzo of France and Margarita Koczanow of Poland, who have both run under two minutes so far this year, are also expected to feature.
Kerrica Hill, who ran a big personal best 12:54 recently, is to contest the 100m hurdles, along with Amoi Brown. They will challenge Charisma Taylor of The Bahamas and Michelle Jenneke of Australia.
High jumper Raymond Richards will also be in action.
