A major boost
Director welcomes new additions to ambitious Mount Pleasant
Mount Pleasant Football Academy has confirmed the acquisition of national goalkeeper Kemar Foster from Waterhouse FC, in what the club’s Sporting Director Paul Christie describes as a significant boost to the outfit’s growing ambitions.
Foster’s arrival brings to three the number of national goalkeepers currently on the books at Mount Pleasant ahead of the new Jamaica Premier League season. The other national goalkeepers at the St Ann-based club are Shaquan Davis and Tafari Chambers.
Christie had high praise for Foster’s experience, pointing to his seamless integration into the squad and the value he brings both on and off the pitch.
“It is a privilege to have Mr Foster at the club,” Christie said. “His experience over the years adds to the value and strength that we are moving forward with. He has been settling well and the camaraderie with him and the rest of the team is very high at this time.”
Christie added that Foster’s presence has already elevated the team’s competitiveness and spirit, and that the club is excited to have a player of his calibre within its ranks.
“He has added value to what we have right now and we are just happy to have a talent like Kemar Foster representing the Mount Pleasant group,” he added.
Christie highlighted that the acquisition of Foster comes as Mount Pleasant Academy continue to build a deep and balanced squad for what is expected to be a long and demanding campaign, potentially stretching across nearly 60 matches.
“We continue to trust the technical expertise of [Head Coach] Mr Theodore Whitmore and his assistant Davion Ferguson. With such a long season, you will have injuries, lack of form, lack of rhythm, and international duties. But they will be okay because we have to prepare for it.”
Foster is the latest in a series of high-profile additions by the club, which also recently signed Warner Brown, last season’s Premier League top scorer, from Arnett Gardens.
Brown, 22, netted 22 goals and is expected to add even more firepower to the club’s attack. The former St Andrew Technical High School standout has also scored four goals for the Reggae Boyz team from nine appearances.
Christie credited the club’s progress to the visionary leadership of owner Peter Goule, underscoring that Mount Pleasant’s long-term strategy is aimed at reshaping the local football landscape.
“It is a testament to the work that has been done by the ownership led by Mr Peter Goule. We truly believe that we are lucky to be at a space where we can change the dynamics of football in this region forever and try to catch up with what is happening at the professional level in Europe.”
CHRISTIE… we truly believe that we are lucky to be at a space where we can change the dynamics of football in this region forever .
