JLP: ‘Our record is real’
Holness Administration releases list of its achievements since 2016
THE Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has hit the road this morning with a document that outlines what it says are scores of achievements it has recorded since it was handed the reins of power in 2016.
With its eyes set on a third term in power, the JLP is urging Jamaicans to accept that it has “a record of responsible leadership, real investment, and steady progress”.
“We managed the economy with care. Debt is down. Reserves are up. Hundreds of thousands of Jamaicans are working. Crime is falling. More hospitals and health centres have been built. More doctors and nurses are serving our people. Roads have been improved. New highways are connecting more Jamaicans and bringing opportunity closer to where people live.
“These are not promises. These are real results,” says the JLP in the document.
“The last time the PNP [People’s National Party] was in power, Jamaica faced higher taxes, rising debt, and limited growth — even as the rest of the world was thriving. They have no clear plan, no proven team, and no record of getting things done. Giving them back control would put Jamaica’s future at risk. It would mean more borrowing, more taxes, less accountability, and slower progress. We cannot go back. Jamaica is moving in the right direction. And we are committed to making it even better for everyone,” added the JLP in the document.
The governing party claims that since 2016 it has been working for one reason: to improve the lives of the Jamaican people.
“From job creation to road construction, from health improvements to safer communities, every step we have taken has been guided by that mission. These are not promises. They are not plans. They are real results. This booklet is not about what we hope to do, it is a record of what has already been delivered across education, housing, health, agriculture, tourism, digital access, and more,” added the JLP.
The governing party admitted that there is more to be done, as it accepted that some Jamaicans have not benefited from its accomplishments.
“Not every family has felt the full impact yet, and that matters deeply to us. That is why we remain focused on finishing what we have started and reaching every household, every community, every Jamaican,” the JLP said in a thinly disguised plea for a third term when Jamaicans next go to the polls.
“This is our record, and the record is real,” the JLP declared.
