KINGSTON, Jamaica—Growing up in the communities of Park Lane and Hundred Lane off the Red Hills Road area in Kingston, KQualiti was influenced by music from an early age.

He would often see community stars including Red Dragon, Daddy Lizard, Buju Banton, Fabby Dolly, Sanchez and Flourgon hanging out in the area, while performing at events in and around the community.

“It is widely known that Red Hills Road has a rich musical history. I’m from Park Lane, the same community where Flourgon, Sanchez, Red Dragon, Daddy Lizard and Fabby Dolly are from. I grew up in a community full of stars. I was always surrounded by music and people involved in the music industry. So, choosing a career in music was an easy choice for me,” KQualiti told Observer Online.

After completing studies at Pembroke Hall High, KQualiti set about honing his musical skills. While the journey wasn’t an easy one, he never lost sight of the fact that his love for music was a strong motivator.

“The journey has been really hard, sometimes you get that feeling like you want to throw in the towel, but the love for music always motivates me and I decided to continue on the path,” he said.

His latest single Van Persii, produced by StackzNBrixxx Entertainment, was released on May 16. His debut EP, Stronger, is scheduled for release later this year.

“Everything is coming together nicely with this project. So far, we’ve recorded some great songs. The EP should be completed and ready for release very soon,’ said the artiste whose given name is Shakir Campbell.

He launched his recording career in 2018, with the release of a single titled Quick Cash, produced by Michael Reynolds and released on the Sekhimaj Records imprint.
