St Catherine man dies after motor vehicle plunges into Rio Cobre
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica—A 58-year-old man died on Wednesday after his vehicle plunged into the Rio Cobre at a section of the Bog Walk Gorge.
He has been identified as Garfield Batts, a mechanical engineer of Rose Drive, Green Acres, Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Reports from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Communications Network are that Batts was driving a Nissan Frontier motor truck along the Bog Walk Gorge when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and it fell into the river.
The incident reportedly happened around 6:30 am.
The police and the Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) were alerted and responded to the scene. A search was conducted and his motor vehicle located.
Batts was subsequently taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
