WNBA game interrupted after sex toy thrown onto court
GEORGIA, United States — In what is being described as a “bizarre” incident, a Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) game between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries was interrupted on Tuesday when a sex toy was hurled onto the court.
International media reports indicated that the game was tied at 75 and the Valkyries had possession of the ball with about a minute left on the clock when the lime green object was tossed onto the court from the stands, narrowly missing players and bouncing several times before landing toward the near side-line.
“Inappropriate. Get them out of here, whoever it is,” one of the Dream broadcasters said, according to reports, after the cameras picked up the dildo, showing a close-up of the item on live TV.
“Chaos, absolute chaos,” another announcer added.
Some social media users, as well as commenters at the match, expressed shock that the game was not immediately paused when the object flew onto the black court.
Several police officers intervened, two to find the culprit, while another bagged up the offending item and removed it from the court.
The Valkyries took the game over The Dream 77-75.
