Fiji and The Movement début on Billboard Reggae Albums chart
There are two new entries on this week’s Billboard Reggae Albums chart: Visions by The Movement enters at #7, while Collection: 50th State of Mind by Fiji The Artiste steps in at #10.
The Movement, an American reggae band formed in Columbia, South Carolina, in 2003 (the members later relocated to Philadelphia), records a fusion of rock, reggae, hip hop, and acoustic music.
The band has to date released eight studio albums, five of which have made the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.
To date the band has scored #1 titles with One More Night (2010), Golden (2016), and Ways of the World (2019).
Visions, released July 18 via R4RE label, has 13 tracks. It has collaborations with the Elovaters, Nick Hexum, Tribal Seeds and Stick Figure.
Fijian-born recording artiste George Brooks Veikoso, better known in music circles as Fiji, died on July 23. A songwriter, occasional actor, musician and producer, he was born in Buretu, Nakelo, but moved to Hawaii.
He is known for his work in shaping Polynesian reggae and island R&B.
Collection: 50th State of Mind was released in 2018. The 50-track set features collaborations with Peetah Morgan, J Boog and Bitty McLean.
Still on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Bob Marley and the Wailers log 289 non-consecutive weeks at #1 with Legend, while Shaggy’s 2000 release Hot Shot, re-enters the chart at #2.
Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection re-enters the chart at #3, World on Fire by Stick Figure, and Greatest Hits by UB40 are #4 and #5 respectively.
Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock inches up to #6, while Wisdom by Stick Figure dips to #8. The group dips to #9 with Set in Stone.
Global hit Shake it to the Max (Fly) remix, which has now taken over the #1 spot on the Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay chart, rises from #55 to #52 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. In the meantime, the song inches to #14 in its 9th week on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart.
Over on R&B/Hip Hop Digital Song Sales chart, the song steps up from #10 to #8, having peaked at #4. But, on Mainstream R&B/Hip Hop Airplay, Shake it to the Max (Fly) remix backtracks from #4 to #8 in its 12th week.
Over on the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart, there is a new #1 song. More Reggae/Funk it Up by Ammoye featuring Samora takes over the top, Pressure by Gisto is #3, Make it by Semojrah Naki is #5, and Ready or Not by Jurney Star is at #7.
Evil Alters by Glen Washington takes the #8 spot, and Celena has the sole new entry with Feels Like A Movie debuting at #10.
I’d Love You To Want Me by Tony Roy spends a second week at #1 on the New York Reggae chart, while Glen Washington’s
Better Than Before ascends from #9 to #5.
True Lies by Naomi Cowan steps up from #13 to #10, while Ride Cowboy Ride by Wesrock debuts at #28, and Jah Jah Give Us Life by Duane Stephenson opens at #29.
And on the South Florida Reggae chart, What If (Side Man) by Shuga spends a 4th week at #1.
