Skillibeng earns fourth gold certification for Tyla’s Jump
KINGSTON, Jamaica — After earning gold certifications in Canada (40,000 units), Brazil (20,000 units) and in New Zealand (15,000 units), Jump, the hit song by South African singer Tyla and featuring American rapper Gunna and Jamaican dancehall artiste Skillibeng, has been certified gold in the United States (US).
The certification issued by the Recording Industry Association of America on July 29, commemorates more than 500,000 units in sales.
Jump, which is included on Tyla’s self-titled debut album, was released in March last year. Described as a fusion of afrobeats, dancehall and hip-hop, Jump was produced by Sammy SoSo.
The song made its presence felt on multiple Billboard charts including US Afrobeats Songs chart (#3), Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (#42), Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay (#16) and US World Digital Song Sales (#6).
The song was also successful in other countries including the United Kingdom (#38), Canada (#87), Greece (#31), Ireland (#66), Netherlands (#51), New Zealand (#22), Nigeria (#57), Switzerland (#49) and South Africa (#18).
Tyla, Gunna and Skillibeng performed Jump at the 2024 BET Awards in Los Angeles.
Jump ranked at #4 on Vibe Magazine’s list of the Songs of the Summer for 2024. Respected British film and music website New Music Express (NME) placed Jump at #13 on its list of the 50 Best Songs of 2024.
At the Billboard Music Awards last year, Jump was nominated in the category Top Afrobeats Song.
Jump has been certified platinum in South Africa for sales exceeding 40,000 units.
