Phoenix Academy acquire Chapelton Maroons
Jamaica Premier League (JPL) club Chapelton Maroons have been acquired by Phoenix Academy Group. The takeover was confirmed by the club’s general manager, Rannaldo Christian.
“Yes, it has been sold to them,” Christian told Observer Online on Monday when quizzed as to the status of Chapelton Maroons.
Likewise, Phoenix founder Craig Butler told that our news team that his daughter, Kaycie, the majority shareholder of Phoenix, “has completed the purchase of Chapelton Maroons”.
Following their promotion to the Jamaica Premier League for the 2024/2025 season, Chapleton Maroons finished ninth with 37 points after nine wins, 10 draws and 20 defeats.
Chapelton were among three Clarendon-based clubs in the JPL last season, but the only one to have survived relegation from the league as both Humble Lion and Vere Phoenix United were demoted.
In 2024, Phoenix merged with Clarendon club Vere United and were granted operational and developmental rights for the next 10 years.
