ECJ offices to open on Saturdays for ID card collection
KINGSTON, Jamaica — In preparation for the upcoming general election, all constituency offices of the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) will begin opening on Saturdays to facilitate the collection of national voter identification (ID) cards, starting this Saturday, August 9.
The offices will be open to the public from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, offering additional access to registered electors who may be unable to collect their ID cards during regular weekday hours.
Director of Elections, Glasspole Brown, said the extended hours are in direct response to public demand.
“We are opening our offices on Saturdays to make it convenient for electors to be able to collect their Voter ID card ahead of the upcoming general election. We have had a number of requests from electors who want to collect their ID card but cannot make it to the offices before closing hours during the work-week,” Brown explained.
The EOJ is urging all electors who have not yet collected their renewed voter ID card to take advantage of the extended hours, ensuring they are fully prepared to vote on election day.
