Ravel Morrison seeking a return to England
Reggae Boyz midfielder Ravel Morrison is hoping to return to English club football as he was part of a Professional Footballers Association (PFA) free agent squad as their summer training camps continue, according to a report on the TalkSPORT website.
With Jamaica qualifying for the final qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup to be staged in Mexico, USA and Canada, Morrison is hoping that playing regularly in England can give him a chance to impress the Jamaican coaching set-up.
According to the report, Morrison, who was part of Steve McClaren’s squad that took part in the recent Unity Cup in London as well as World Cup qualifying, “was part of a 42-player line-up that includes many familiar faces looking for new clubs”.
The report also said, “For the last six weeks, the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) have been running camps to keep players fit. They host training sessions and fixtures to showcase the available talent, allowing clubs to contact them with any interest,” and said Morrison, who has played for 14 clubs including West Ham, Birmingham, Queens Park Rangers and Derby County, was “one of the former stars taking part this week”.
The 32 year-old Morrison, who was tipped for success when he was a prodigy at Manchester United and played alongside the likes of World Cup winner Paul Pogba, last played for Precision FC in the second tier of football in the United Arab Emirates.
While a number of former players were listed as taking part in the camp, the article said, “It’s Morrison who stands out as a well-known name that could potentially be snapped up by a club for the upcoming season.”
