Robert Miller launches re-election campaign in St Catherine South Eastern
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Member of Parliament Robert Miller officially launched his re-election campaign for St Catherine South Eastern on Monday, emphasising service, accessibility, and inclusive development as the fundamental parts of his representation.
“I decided to give service and what a better place to give that service than to South East St Catherine,” said Miller during the launch event held on Monday in his constituency.
Miller, also known as “Big Rob,” highlighted his daily presence among constituents and his open-door policy, which he said distinguishes his leadership style.
“I am accessible to the people, I am there for the people. I am in my constituency every day with my people. I’m reachable,” he said. “I am proud with my team and the development that we have done in South East St Catherine. We’re on the job.”
Among the initiatives he pointed to was the education grant provided through his office, which supports students sitting CSEC exams as well as those pursuing tertiary education.
He also spoke about the social assistance programmes available through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), making it clear that political affiliation does not influence who benefits.
“The social assistance that have been given through the CDF once you are a citizen, a resident, a constituent of South East St Catherine and you make the request through my office, once the resources are there it will be approved regardless of which political divide you are,” Miller said. “Because in this office you can realise that it’s not painted green it’s open to everyone.”
Miller encouraged constituents to review the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) record of achievements and to assess his work based on substance rather than politics.
“Think objectively when you are making your call because the day of the garrison politic is of the past and no one can say that I’ve ever turned them away from my office because of their political persuasion,” he argued.
He closed by reaffirming his commitment to genuine leadership and consistent presence in the constituency.
“I’m not for gimmickery. I’m here in person, accessible to my people… you’re sure in your mind that you can trust Robert ‘Big Rob’ Miller,” he stated.
