Bryan Levell, Ryiem Forde claim victory at track meet in Poland
National men’s 200m champion Bryan Levell and 100m finalist Ryiem Forde were winners at Wednesday’s eighth Memorial Wieslawa Maniaka meet held in Szczecin, Poland, a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze event.
Levell clocked 20.26 seconds (1.1m/s) to lead a clean sweep of the podium places in the men’s 200m with Christopher Taylor second in 20.35 seconds and Kadrian Goldson third in a personal best 20.44 seconds.
Odaine McPherson, who was earlier disqualified in the 100m for a false start, ran 20.84 seconds (1.7m/s) in his heat of the 200m.
Forde, who was fourth in the 100m at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association National Championships in late June, won the short sprint on Wednesday, running 10.07 seconds (1.0m/s) to edge Goldson’s 10.10 seconds with Sri Lanka’s Yupun Abeykoon taking third with 10.29 seconds.
Another Jamaican, Travis Williams, was fifth in 10.42 seconds.
Jevaughn Powell was second in the men’s 400m, running 45.63 seconds, and Delano Kennedy placed sixth in 45.90 seconds as Australia’s Reece Holder won with 44.78 seconds.
Demish Gaye also ran 47.35 seconds while Candace McLeod was fifth in the women’s 400m in 53.76 seconds.
