Mariah Carey’s Sugar Sweet featuring Shenseea, Kehlani makes chart début
Sugar Sweet, the second release from pop star Mariah Carey’s forthcoming 16th studio album débuts on multiple charts this week.
The song, which features Shenseea and Kehlani, steps in at #41 in the United Kingdom, #16 in New Zealand, and #49 in Australia.
On the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Digital Song Sales chart, Sugar Sweet débuts at #2, #2 on the R&B Digital Song Sales and #17 on Hot R&B Songs.
This is Shenseea’s second appearance on R&B/Hip Hop Digital Song Sales. Her last appearance was in 2022 when
Lick, featuring Megan Thee Stallion, topped out at #23.
This is not the first time that a Jamaican has collaborated with Carey. In 2003, she collaborated with Elephant Man and rapper Da Brat for a remix of Got a Thing 4 You.
Sean Paul continues to make moves on the Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay chart as Ginger spices things up, bolting from #29 to #22 in its third week. Meanwhile, Shake it the Max (Fly) remix, which has been certified gold in France, remains at #1 on the chart for a second week.
The song backtracks from #8 to #13 on Mainstream R&B/Hip Hop Airplay where it peaked at #3, while on R&B/Hip Hop Digital Song Sales it stays put at #8. Over on R&B/Hip Hop Airplay, it slips from #11 to #14. It, however, finds better luck on Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs inching down from #14 to #15.
Shake it to the Max (Fly) remix improves on Pop Airplay, stepping up from #39 to #37, while on Radio Songs, it loses steam from #26 to #32. And, finally, on the all genre Billboard Hot 100, the song dips from #52 to #56.
Over on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Bob Marley and the Wailers log another week atop the chart, making its total 290 non-consecutive weeks.
Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy re-enters at #2, while last week’s début Collection: 50th State of Mind by Fiji The Artiste (who passed away a few weeks ago), parachutes from #10 to #3.
The Trinity by Sean Paul re-enters at 4, World on Fire by Stick Figure dips to #5, and Greatest Hits by UB40 slips to #6.
Wisdom by Stick Figure is up to #7, while Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock is down two places to #8.
Set in Stone by Stick Figure remains at #9 and Welcome to Jamrock by Damian Marley re-enters at #10.
Over on the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart, More Reggae/Funk it Up by Ammoye featuring Samora spends a second week at #1.
Bring it On Home by Keith Cole takes over the #1 spot on the South Florida Reggae chart, while 2 Times by Khago bolts from #11 to #8. Kiss of Judas by Etana steps up from #16 to #12.
New entries arrive in the form of Jah Jah Give Us Life by Duane Stephenson (23) and Blinded by Love by Ed Robinson (24).
Tony Roy’s cover of I’d Love You To Want Me spends a third week at #1 on the New York Reggae chart. Better Than Before by Glen Washington improves from #5 to #2, while Blinded By Love by Ed Robinson sails from #14 to #10.
Good with Jah by Red Fox sails from #15 to #11, while Cool Me Down by Courtney John is up from #17 to #13.
Ring of Fire by The Meditations (#28); Hustling in My Blood by Cham, Stephen Marley and Damian Marley (#29); and Where Could I Go by Derrick Scott (#30) are the new entries.
