After six decades, reconstructive surgery is needed
Dear Editor,
Jamaica’s body politic is comprised of:
1) a spine of the courage and sacrifices of our national heroes and freedom fighters;
2) the organs of our missionaries, icons, and celebrities;
3) the blood of our people’s aspirations and self-determination; and
4) the thick skin of our resilience and fortitude
All of these are now covered by the outer layer of an imperial monarchy.
Let us join together in a process of transformation to remove the imperial outer layer. After six decades of Independence there is no reason which is consistent with our national identity and pride for us to further delay this process of transformation.
Let us, therefore, combine all our hopes and aspirations in carrying forward the desired reconstruction and transformation.
