Ashanti Moore runs sub 11.00 seconds in Serbia
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Ashanti Moore became the latest Jamaican woman to clock a sub-11-second time in the 100m after she ran a personal best 10.94 seconds (0.7m/s) to win the event at the fourth Serbia Athletics Meeting in Belgrade on Thursday.
Moore, who won the women’s 200m at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) National Championships in late June, and ran a personal best and World Championships qualifying time of 22.40 seconds two weeks ago in Austria, is now the joint 16th fastest Jamaican woman over the 100m all time, with Schillonie Calvert-Powell and Briana Williams.
The former Hydel High standout lowered her previous personal best of 11.06 seconds that she set in 2023, and is the fifth fastest Jamaican so far this year.
She was the 26th Jamaican woman to dip under 11.00 seconds.
Krystal Sloley was fourth in the final, running 11.28 seconds.
Meanwhile Danniel Thomas-Dodd won the women’s shot put with 19.04m.
