Fontana’s COO hints at another store in St James
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Fontana Chief Operating Officer (COO) Raymond “Ray” Therrien has hinted at the possibility of Jamaica’s largest pharmacy chain adding a location on the outskirts of Montego Bay.
“Ironshore, potentially; we’ll see,” Therrien told the Jamaica Observer when quizzed on potential expansion of the chain that has been steadily growing over the years.
Long known for high-end villas and proximity to major hotels on the Rose Hall strip, Ironshore will also be the venue for the first-ever Pricesmart outside of the Corporate Area and Portmore, St Catherine. The addition of Fontana to the eastern section of Montego Bay would be just the latest in a string of developments there.
Fontana now has seven locations: two in Kingston (Waterloo and Barbican), along with one each in Mandeville, Ocho Rios, Savanna-La-Mar, Portmore, and Fairview in Montego Bay. It recently made a big splash in the market with its acquisition of the Monarch Pharmacy chain. Fontana also scored a big win with the inclusion of global pop star Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin lines in its Ora outlets that are now part of select Fontana branches.
“It’s been amazing! The demand for Fenty has been great. It’s been an exceptional launch and we are so happy about it,” Therrien declared.
“It’s been very, very strong, we are really, really happy with it and we have plans to expand with more Ora locations,” he added.
Fenty is now only available at Fontana’s Waterloo and Fairview locations.
