Linstead residents call on Flow to fix internet service
]ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Residents of Cross Roads in Linstead, St Catherine, are up in arms against telecommunications service provider Flow as they have not had any internet or cable service for almost a week.
The residents say that since a vehicle crashed into a utility pole on the Ewarton main road in the wee hours of Saturday morning, their internet service has been disrupted.
They say even when they use their phone data, the internet is lagging, and in some cases, does not work at all.
To add insult to injury, they say Flow representatives, whom they have seen in the area, have told them that there is nothing wrong with their service.
One resident showed Observer Online a red light flashing on his modem, which he said indicated that there is no service.
The residents’ frustrations are compounded by the fact that whenever they call Flow, they cannot speak to a person but are directed to WhatsApp to speak to an artificial intelligence (AI) bot.
One woman showed several WhatsApp messages where Flow indicated that they knew there was no service in the area, and their technicians were working to fix the problem.
She questions the confusion and queries how Flow representatives working in the area up to Monday, say there was service, yet the company sends them WhatsApp messages indicating that there is none.
A senior representative from Flow, after checking, informed Observer Online that the service was interrupted, as the company was working in the area.
“The work is scheduled to be finished by 5:00 pm on Friday,” the representative said.
