Bog Walk Gorge temporarily closed after train overturns
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Bog Walk Gorge in St Catherine has been temporarily closed to traffic after a train overturned in the area, blocking the roadway.
Police say the overturned train is currently preventing vehicles from passing through the gorge, a key route for many motorists traveling between St Catherine and other parts of the island.
Jamaica Fire Brigade Chief Stewart Beckford shared with Observer Online that “out of an abundance of caution, because there are some down JPS power lines which are still energised and will pose a risk to motorists traveling through that area at this time”, road users are urged to use alternative routes until the area is cleared.
Beckford sai there have been no reported injuries and fatalities.
“Owners and operators of the train, WINDALCO, have revealed that there are no injuries or fatalities as a result of this incident,” Beckford said.
