130 JUTC buses chartered for JLP rally
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will be providing chartered transportation services for attendees travelling to the JLP rally scheduled for this afternoon at Half-Way Tree Square in St Andrew.
The service, which is being privately-funded and in which the JUTC will deploy approximately 130 buses, aims to ensure a safe travel experience the JUTC said in a statement.
“Buses will be dispatched from multiple constituencies across the island to ensure convenient access for passengers attending this large public gathering. As always, passenger safety is our highest priority. JUTC has implemented stringent safety measures and relies on the cooperation of passengers to ensure a smooth travel experience,” the stat-owned bus company added.
“All attendees are encouraged to follow the guidance of our drivers and the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), which will be on hand to ensure order and safety throughout the journey,” statement continued.
JUTC is appealing to all passengers to:
- Not hang part of their bodies outside the bus
- Not ride on top of buses under any circumstances
- Avoid making loud noise inside the bus, as driver distraction can compromise safety
- Obey all instructions from the bus crew and the JCF
- Take note of your bus identification number at the start of your journey so you can reconnect with your assigned bus for the return trip
Return Trip Instructions:
- Passengers must return to the same drop-off point in Half-Way Tree to board assigned bus home.
- Each bus will be clearly labelled with the constituency name for easy identification, and drivers will remind passengers of their pick-up point before disembarking at the event.
- Drivers will remain on location until all returning passengers have boarded.
The JUTC said it is “pleased to be your transport provider and wish all attendees a safe and enjoyable commute with the JUTC.”
