Slain spouse of cop in St James gun attack identified
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The spouse of a policeman who was killed in a gun attack Saturday night in Reading, St James has been identified.
She is 36- year- old Latoya Stephenson of a West Village address in Montego Bay in the parish. Stephenson succumbed to injuries after unidentified individuals opened fire on the vehicle she was travelling in with the cop and his son, who were also injured in the attack, on the Unity Hall main road.
Preliminary reports indicated that the son had died in the shooting.
The policeman and his son are currently in hospital being treated. Their conditions are currently not known.
It is understood that the cop is a member of the Lottery Scamming Task Force based in St James.
Reports are that the police have initiated their investigations into the matter and have begun their search to apprehend the assailants.
