Forbes, Anderson lose bid to join JOA board
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) first vice president Ian Forbes and former Jamaica Football Federation vice president Raymond Anderson failed in their bid to join the Christopher Samuda-led Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) board, following today’s election.
Forbes, in his bid to become second vice president of the JOA, withdrew from the race against incumbent Robert Scott who he had previously lost to in the 2021 elections.
Anderson, who lost the JFF presidency race to Michael Ricketts last year, was also unsuccessful in dethroning first vice president Jacqueline Cowan after withdrawing before the election proceedings.
Samuda, who has led the JOA since 2017, will serve a third term as president after being unopposed. His first two elections saw him fend off Vishu Tolan and Alan Beckford respectively.
Honorary treasurer Nichole Case and directors Gary Peart, Laurel Smith, Nicole Grant Brown, (Jamaica Amateur Gymnastics Association president), Karen Anderson, (Squash Jamaica president) and Anthony “Billy” Wilmot, (Jamaica Surfing Association president) will also serve on the JOA board.
