Italian club Roma courting Villa in attempt to sign Leon Bailey
Italian football club Roma is in talks with Aston Villa with hopes to sign Jamaican footballer Leon Bailey, according to a report from The Athletic.
Negotiations so far indicate the clubs are discussing a loan deal with an obligation, and whether Bailey is to train away from the first team, the report says.
The 28-year-old Bailey signed a new contract with Villa in February 2024, which runs until 2027. However, he is among multiple players available to leave the Midlands club.
Roma isn’t the only club showing interest, as the report cites clubs in Turkey — including Besiktas — and the Saudi Pro League as being interested in the winger.
So far, Roma are emerging as the strongest suitor, as similar discussions took place over a Saudi move earlier in the window.
The Athletic says a bid has yet to be tabled, but talks continue between Villa and their Italian counterparts.
