Jamaicans to participate in German meet
Jamaican sprinters Odaine McPherson, Sandrey Davison, as well as Kemba Nelson will be seeking honours when they compete at Friday’s International North Thuringian Athletics Meeting in Sondershausen, Germany.
Eight Jamaicans are down to compete in the World Athletics Continental Tour- Challenger meet.
McPherson, who had a series of wins earlier in the season, and Davison will be joined by Sachin Dennis in the 100m, where they will go up against Arthur Cisse of the Ivory Coast, Jeff Erius of France and Benjamin Azamati of Ghana, all of whom have run under 10.00 seconds this season.
Nelson is the lone Jamaican in the women’s 100m, and she will be racing against a number of top German sprinters, including Lisa Mayer, Rebekka Haase and Sina Mayer.
Kerrica Hill will start the 100m hurdles, while De’Jour Russell will contest the 110m hurdles.
Candice McLeod is down to run the women’s 400m, where she will take on American Talitha Diggs, Mercy Oketch of Kenya and Andrea Miklos of Romania.
